Introducing Updated Pricing for the VitalLens API
At Rouast Labs, we strive to provide transparent, flexible, and fair pricing that matches the needs of our users. With this in mind, we are excited to announce a significant update to our API pricing structure, moving from a request-based system to a frame-based accounting model. This change ensures that you only pay for the actual work performed, making it easier to predict costs and match them to your usage.
What Was the Previous Pricing Model?
Under the old system:
- Pricing was based on the number of requests.
- Each request could process up to 900 frames. However, users were charged for a full request regardless of the number of frames actually analyzed.
- This often made it difficult to predict how many requests would be needed for a specific workload.

What Is Changing?
We are introducing a frame-based accounting model:
- Fairer Usage: Users will now be billed based on the exact number of frames analyzed. While each request can still accommodate up to 900 frames, only the frames actually processed within a request will count towards your credits, ensuring no waste.
- Transparent Accounting: Frame counts are clearly reflected in your usage metrics, making it easier to estimate costs.
- Flexible Options: New prepaid package plans have been introduced to provide additional flexibility for users with varied workloads.
- Better for Real-Time Applications: This change is particularly beneficial for real-time applications of the API, which typically process fewer frames per request. Additionally, we are actively working on future improvements to better support real-time scenarios.

What Happens to My Current Plan?
All existing users will be automatically migrated to the new plans. Here’s how the transition works:
- If you’re currently on a monthly plan, you’ll be moved to the equivalent frame-based plan.
- If you’re on the Free plan, you’ll now receive 81K frame credits per month.
Your API keys and access remain unchanged, so there’s no action required on your part.
